This fall we have had just about a wedding every weekend since July. Sundays have really become a day for my husband Danny and I to reset and recharge for the week and weekend to come. Danny’s family has a camp in the Allegheny National Forest that we don’t get to visit nearly as much as we’d like, but a few Sundays this fall season we went up just for the day to get away from it all. One Sunday we left before sunrise with our friends Yasha and Ang following close behind. With coffee in hand and warm layers upon us, we started the two and half hour drive.

The drive was incredible and filled with fall colors. The sky itself was a little dreary especially to start, but the colors were still so rich, As we got deeper into the forest and the back roads got windier, I noticed that the trees began to look different. Then I realized that the trees were coated in snow! As we got closer to camp the more and more snow that was on the ground & trees. It even snowed a bit on our drive. Once we got to camp we unleashed the pup, made some breakfast and hot cider and then bundled up to sit and eat on the screened in porch. Once we finished breakfast we went back inside to just relax and be.

After awhile we decided to take a drive out to Kinzua Bridge State Park which Yasha and Ang had never been to before. We of course made a stop at Kaffe Sol for some sweets and lattes before heading out into the cold. We didn’t last very long out on the edge of the bridge because it was so incredibly cold and wasn’t helped by the strong winds. Our husky puppy Juniper loved the weather and even slid around the glass at the end of the bridge that was covered in ice. Even when she fell she would just lie there and eat the ice..

We then made our way back across the bridge that once stood as a giant train crossing and started walking part of the trail leading up to the bridge. It seemed much warmer here and there was quite a lot less wind. It’s always relaxing to just take photos for fun, so I had my camera with me and took a few shots of Yasha, Ang, and the two of them together. The fall colors were so warm and plentiful! We then made our way back towards camp, but of course no trip to camp is complete without a stop at Texas Hot Lunch for some food. After we ate and returned to camp, Yasha and Ang headed back to the city as Danny and I cleaned and closed up camp. When we were on our way out, it started to snow! Juniper’s first snow! She was confused and also loving it. I’m so glad that we got to take a break, no matter how small, and get outside and be with people with love!
