Emily & Henry were the first of many couples to get married this September! September was the busiest month this year for a lot of photographers, but I can’t think of a better way to have started off the busy season!
From the first time I met Emily at Starbucks to go over wedding details I could tell how genuine, quirky, and fun she was! I loved going over all of the details she was most excited for and learning more about her and Henry. After our initial meeting we continued to go over details and exchange ridiculous gifs all at the same time. It’s a lot of fun reading the different personalities of brides and getting to be yourself. I always try to get to the know the bride a little more than just knowing what photographs they want because the reality is that on their wedding day, which is arguably one of the most memorable and emotional days of their lives, I’m the one in the salon, in the hotel room, in the choir room of the church as you anxiously await the signal to walk down the aisle to meet your very soon to be husband. I’m there for a lot of the personal parts of your big day. Getting to know my couples a little better prior to the wedding allows me to know what’s important to them and what moments to capture throughout the day.
The fun began at the salon where Emily and her bridesmaids were relaxed and having the best time. They were laughing and bantering, and even later all joined together for an impromptu line dance right in the middle of the salon. The fun didn’t stop there! They took it right back to the hotel with them, as the girls did each others make up while Emily had hers done by a friend and her dress hung in the window as a glimpse into the next step of the day. The girls all helped Emily get into her dress and lace up the gorgeous back. Emily put on the final touches of jewelry and her shoes as the big day became even more real.
We made our way to the church where the girls spent time together in one of the large back rooms. This of course included eating last minute Mcdonald’s. The ring bearers and flower girls joined the adults in the room with build a bear stuffed animals dressed to match. It was such a cute idea and the kids were so proud and excited to carry their bears with them all day! As the time got closer, I made my way to the sanctuary. The church was stunning and colorful with stained glass. I photographed and watched as another couple promised to love each other for now and for always. It’s something so special and I make sure to never take that for granted.
After the ceremony we went to a new to me location at South Park. Penn State has a garden by one of the entrances to the park that I found the week of the wedding. There’s an adorable wooden arch, flowers, and tall plants that make for a cool back drop. We had a lot of fun photographing Emily & Henry here along with the wedding party. Afterwards we made our way to the reception to continue the celebration! At the reception Emily danced the night away. I distinctly remember Emily being particularly excited for some NSYNC. The fun loving nature of Emily, Henry, their friends, and family was apparent throughout the entire night! I’m so glad that we got to meet Emily & Henry and capture such special moments of their big day!
