If you book a wedding with me, you'll also be getting a second photographer! I'm incredibly lucky that my second photographer is also my husband! Having the opportunity to do the thing I love most with the person I love the most is pretty wonderful. He's an engineer by day, but has really delved into the photography world to learn how to creatively capture people's weddings and moments as well.
I've had a lot of potential brides and grooms ask me recently about a second shooter for weddings and I thought it would be a good idea to start showcasing some of my husband's work as well. His photos are mixed in with mine throughout the website, but I thought a blog would be a great opportunity to show you how he sees the world around him in photo form. We have similar visions of how to capture moments (he did learn photography from me after all!), but we are also good at different types of photographs. He's great at gathering people and getting group photos, along with capturing the most hilarious candid moments, especially on the dance floor. Over the past three years I've been impressed with his growth as a photographer and the way he's taken what I've shown him and made it his own, filling in the gaps where I could stand to learn a thing or two from him!
We make a pretty dynamic duo, photographing or not! Being able to photograph weddings with him has created a smooth operation for both ourselves and our clients. We know who is capturing what, who will be standing where, what shots will be covered by which one of us. We've created a pretty well oiled machine at this point in our photography journey. We both continue to develop our skills in different ways. One of the best ways is to just get out there and photograph something, anything! With my husband, I tend to become the model for those practice shoots. This way he can take some photos, show me, and we talk about why he chose to photograph an image the way he did and I can make some suggestions on how to try something new. It becomes a real time lesson for both of us to think on our feet and be better photographers!
A few weeks back we were up at the family camp and decided to practice some portraits. Here's a look at what we got!
All photographs were taken by my husband, and edited by me.
